Over the past few years TCG have installed a total of 24 black cockatoo nestboxes around the catchment. Now finally we have noticed a bit of interest. This photo was taken this morning. A flock of around 40 Carnaby’s Black Cockatoos have been in the Torbay area for the past week. This nestbox was very keenly inspected. The box is located in a large pine tree, which was full of cockatoos feeding, but one pair seemed more interested in the box. They spent at least 10-15 minutes looking at the box from all angles. So here’s hoping this and other boxes in the catchment will be used sometime soon.
Cockatoos interested in nestboxes!
