Baiting and trapping in WCHNP 2019 Report

The Autumn and Spring 2019 camera monitoring, baiting and trapping in West Cape Howe National Park (WCHNP) is complete. This program forms part of the first year of TCG’s 3 year project to address the status of the Western Ring Tail Possum.

The first year of data shows that there has been an overall 71% reduction in number of foxes per camera trap night and a 50% reduction in the number of cats per camera trap night. This is in the time period before baiting commenced (May 2019) and after the annual program finished (September 2019). The report can be found on the TGC website or West Cape Howe National Park Report (Nov 2019).

This monitoring, trapping and baiting is set to continue until 2021.
