In conjunction with Wilson Inlet and Oyster Harbour catchment groups, join us on a field walk to see the results of the uPtake fertiliser trial on a working farm in Redmond. Learn more about uPtake and the latest technology being used to measure pasture production including drones and pasture readers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to discuss fertiliser management and the science behind soil testing with fellow farmers and officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

uPtake is jointly funded through Royalties for Region’s Healthy Estuaries WA and the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program which aims to reduce nutrient loss off grazing farms as well as supporting farmers to maximise productivity and profit.

uPtake will:

  • Establish at least 36 fertiliser trials across the South West over a range of soil types with contemporary pasture species to develop phosphorus response curves
  • Trial innovative technology to provide rapid feedback on pasture growth and soil nutrient status including drones, near infrared and X-ray fluorescence
  • Build partnerships and capacity in industry, catchment groups and farmers to work together to optimise productivity and minimise nutrient loss off farm
